Why Hoboken works for a temporary stay
Hoboken is small enough to cross on foot and dense enough that you do not need a car. Groceries, pharmacies, pediatricians, gyms, restaurants and the waterfront park are all within a few blocks of wherever you land, which matters enormously when you are living somewhere temporarily and do not want to relearn a whole town.
The transit is the other draw. Hoboken Terminal puts the PATH, NJ Transit rail, the light rail, buses and the NY Waterway ferry in one building at the south end of town. Manhattan is roughly fifteen minutes door to platform, and the ferry drops you at Midtown West or Brookfield Place.
Housing here splits into two characters: classic brownstone and row-house units on the numbered streets, often with more charm than closet space, and newer elevator buildings near the waterfront and the north end with laundry in unit, a gym and a garage. We place people in both, the right choice usually comes down to whether you need parking and an elevator.

A note on timing and parking
Two Hoboken realities worth knowing before you search. First, furnished inventory is limited by the size of the town, one square mile only holds so many apartments, and good ones move within days. Give us your dates as early as you can. Second, parking is the number one thing people underestimate. If you are keeping a car, say so immediately; it changes which buildings can work for you.
